Till the Last Drop (Volumes) by Joshua Pierre
Where to begin? A question, for myself, that has always been extremely difficult to figure out. A Conversation at the Royale Lounge is an interesting way to start things for a book I aspire to develop, but when it comes to stories and building a world, this is the one I feel the most connected to in a real interesting way. What if I did have all the time in the world? How would obtain this time? What is a subject that grips the minds of people while also sucking them dry?
Imagined as a film and a novella that becomes a series due to the events of the end of the story.
I wanted to start with this story focusing on a character inspired by myself, however I find that this character I actually despise because his moral ground doesn’t exist and he’s a succubus when it comes to the things he does and the people he knows. The main character simply is the most selfish person (or maybe my most selfish version of myself) that is a writer living in Las Vegas and with his current girlfriend. His family lives nearby as well and everyone keeps checking in on him as his drinking and drug addictions escalate. As the addictions get worse and he starts spiraling in self destruction, he comes across a woman (who looks exactly like his current girlfriend) who gives him the opportunity to live forever and have all the time in the world to be whatever he decides. He gives into her offer and is then transformed into a vampire whose addictions and emotions are now amplified and he sets out to get back at those who left him to drown in the gutters of the city.
The first portion of the story focuses strictly on the dramatic aspect of how these dynamics will play out. Taking inspiration from Billy Wilder’s The Lost Weekend, this film (the first film of this series is definitely a film I would love to make) is going to dive into the dark depths of his addictions and the relationships lost through his self destruction. The film then takes a horrific turn as he begins leaving bodies of the people he knew and loved, but the point of his actions there are simply to be the catalyst moment for his little brother and sister who vow to hunt him down and kill him Van Helsing style for their revenge. This is where the series takes off and continues the story for several chapters as the main character travels the world and divulges in all of the possibilities of his new life (including writing his stories), the siblings hunt down the totality of the species they never knew existed, and the battle between the main character’s love for his ex and the woman who sired him.
This story would be my solution for feeling as if I don’t have enough time to write all of my stories in my lifetime. I will give it a shot for sure but the whole purpose of this page on this site is to document the originality I have with my stories and see what my stories look like on paper. This story is a solid starting point to develop style and start filmmaking. Somewhere along the line this will be one of the first things available for purchase and development in the long line of projects.
