Blood of the Sunset by Joshua Pierre

In the overarching story to the connected universe of the books, this story is the final sequel to Finding Dogs that follows the events leading to the last mission the bounty hunter takes before he finishes his storyline. In regards to a screenplay, this is a standalone western that follows two siblings seeking revenge against a group of outlaws whom are responsible for executing their parents. The siblings go on a journey across the Old West where they encounter a drunken bounty hunter (who just so happens to have a connection to the outlaws), a retired school teacher who has set her sites on a new life after her children died from disease, and a thief who is looking to find treasure in the west. After banning together, this unlikely group get caught up in a cat and mouse game battling against the outlaws, who are planning their biggest heist yet.

There’s a possibility of the siblings meeting a young girl who was abandoned by her family as they try to help her find a new home, which might just so happen to be with them. This part of the story might strictly be connected to the book as oppose to the screenplay. This story also serves as an origin story for a few characters in the overarching universe of the books. This is the third story that is focused on the bounty hunter from Finding Dogs. He is the drunken bounty hunter who is in grief over the things that he has had to endure in this life of hunting humans. It’s a character piece about him and has the deepest depths of his redemption after failing in incidents that occurred in earlier books.

This story is further down the line than others due to the fact that it’s a finale in a trilogy but the screenplay brings back the classic western style and looks to focus on cinematography and an extremely tight script that keeps the themes as the main focus as we watch a coming of age story that is birthed in blood and revenge.
